Clock collection

People say that a person must collect at least one kind of item in his lifetime. Some people collect stamps, some collect bottle caps, while some collect comic books. For me, there is only one thing that makes me young again: promotional clocks and watches.
Since I was a kid, I’ve always been fond of these items. There is something in those cheap giveaways that lures me into collecting them in any way possible. Most of my relatives keep on telling me that I’m crazy for collecting those things.
Comments from my family turned from bad to worse, when they said that what I’m doing, and that the room where I put my collection is eerie. They said that all those promotional watches that ticked all at the same time makes them uncomfortable, to put it subtly.
I put a lot of effort maintaining my collection. Every day, I dust them one by one, and check to see if something is broken or needs repairs. There is this satisfaction that I get when I see all my collections working at once and in unison.
There is nothing I can do. I’m addicted to collecting promotional desk clocks for more than three decades now, and I don’t think it will be ending soon. The sight of clocks and watches somehow gives me pleasure. And every time I see one, I’m bent on buying it, regardless of the price.
I don’t have any idea of how many watches and clocks I have already. If I have time, I’ll count them one by one.
